natural remedies for joint pain

Are you wary of using drugs for pain management? Try theses 4 natural remedies for joint pain treatment and arthritis relief!

Traditionally joint pain and arthritis are treated with anti-inflammatory drugs or painkillers such as: Ibuprofen, Cymbalta, Paxil, and Effexor just to name a few. While these drugs can be effective, serious side effects are prevalent, especially over long periods of time.

Inflammation is the root cause of pain in the joints. If left untreated, inflammation can lead to chronic pain. Scientists and the medical community are now convinced that chronic inflammation may be the engine that drives many of the most feared illnesses today!
For centuries cultures around the world have used natural remedies to relieve joint pain.

Four Ways to Reduce Joint Pain Without Drugs

  1. Turmeric (contains the chemical curcumin)

Spice wildly used in South Asian and Middle Eastern cooking.

Turmeric and the chemical curcumin have been shown to protect joints from inflammation as found in a 2010 study by NCCIH. In India, Turmeric has been used as a medical remedy for centuries for conditions such as: liver disorders, pulmonary and gastrointestinal issues, aches and pains, to name just a few. It is believed to have high anti-inflammatory properties.

Turmeric Remedy Solution:

1 teaspoon Turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon crushed sugar, 1 pinch of lime powder. Add an ounce or two of water to create a think paste. Apply to affected area, (knees, hands, shoulder) at night before bed. Use plain water to wash off in the morning.

2. Bromelain

Bromelain -Pineapple

Bromelain is a mixture of enzymes found in the stems of pineapples. As a combination of proteases, bromelain’s components work to support the bodies normal inflammatory response to highly support the healing process. Athletes who have been monitored taking Bromelain have been found to reduce their recovery time by up to 50%.

Isotonix Bromelain Plus is an excellent resource when it comes to fighting inflammation and joint pain. It includes White Willow Bark which has been shown to support normal blood platelet aggregation and promote healthy blood flow along with reducing inflammation.

3. Fish Oil – Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fish oil has long been studied for its wide range of health benefits including: Cardiovascular disease, brain function, and arthritis. Omega 3’s have a reputation for containing highly potent anti-inflammaorty agents.

The best foods with the highest concentration of Omega-3 fatty acids are, salmon (wild, fresh or canned), herring, sardines and mackerel. Including a good supplement of Omega-3 along with a healthy diet can help reduce inflammation for arthritis patients and those suffering with common joint pains.

4. Pycnogenol – (pine bark extract)

Exercise and Weight Management

Adding a safe exercise plan along with proper nutrition and weight management is another natural remedy you should incorporate into your daily routine. Exercising just twice a week for an hour each time offers significant reduction in joint pain and will increase your energy level.

Research shows you will achieve the same benefits by working out just 10 minutes a day, several times throughout the day rather than all at once. Exercising releases pain-relieving chemicals within the body to lubricate joints and strengthen muscles which will cushion the joints.

The key here is to just start doing something! Walking, swimming, and light resistance training would be a great place to start.

Of the four natural remedies for joint pain, OPC-3 with Pycnogenol® has worked best for me.

It has significantly reduced the inflammation in my body allowing me the mobility and freedom to live pain-free again!

    • You’re welcome Lisa, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I’ve had great success with Omega-3 fish oil too. “Fun Fact, all fish oil isn’t created equally. Fish oil with the highest concentration of Omega-3’s comes from smaller fish like anchovies and sardines. They have a short lifecycle making them an ideal source of fish oil because they are less prone to accumulating environmental toxins that can be found in larger, longer-lived fish.” Heart Health only uses anchovies and sardines in their product instead of larger longer living fish.
      Thanks again for stopping by!
